Create presentations with Copilot in PowerPoint

Whether you’re an educator preparing lessons or a marketer brainstorming ideas, time is of the essence. Use Copilot in PowerPoint to create a presentation draft quickly and build a solid foundation instead of starting with a blank canvas.

Find the Copilot icon in the PowerPoint toolbar under the Home ribbon. Open the Copilot pane to chat and interact with Copilot, receive responses to your prompts, and get real-time assistance.

To create a new presentation with Copilot in PowerPoint, give it a prompt that fits what you’re looking for. Try these sample prompts to get inspired:

  • Create a 5-slide presentation on the benefits of renewable energy.
  • Create a formal presentation from the following text, divided into 10-14 slides: [text].
  • Create a presentation that summarizes this article in a candid tone: [article].

From here, Copilot creates a title slide, section headers, or bullet points, and even pulls stock imagery or SmartArt from PowerPoint libraries. With this framework in place, you’ll be able to refine your draft to fit the tone and flow of your presentation.

Summarize key content and simplify slides

Deliver a winning presentation by balancing the amount of text and information on each slide. Breaking up large volumes of text into separate slides allows your audience to absorb your key points effectively, while reducing the number of slides prevents your audience from getting overwhelmed with irrelevant information. This is where Copilot in PowerPoint comes in handy to analyze your existing presentation and adjust each slide’s text. Try these or your own prompts:

  • Reduce the word count on slides two to six by 1/3.
  • Summarize this article into major and minor bullet points, then divide major points into different slides: [article].
  • Rephrase the text in the introduction and chapter slides using an informal tone.

Organize and analyze your presentation

Organize PowerPoint presentation slides with ease by asking Copilot to structure, refine, and sequence your content effectively. Copilot automatically generates slide outlines, reorganizes slide order for a better flow, and suggests section breaks and transitions to enhance clarity. Try example prompts such as:

  • Add a conclusion slide to this presentation and include a bar graph from the data mentioned in slides seven and eight.
  • Organize this presentation into five sections, using the following titles for each section: [titles].
  • What are the key data points from the charts on slide 4?

Additional ways that Copilot enhances PowerPoint presentations

With Copilot integration at the push of a button, it’s easy to take advantage of PowerPoint’s many features for generating speaker notes, adding attractive visuals, and enhancing slides. Here are some additional ways to leverage the power of AI-assisted presentations.

Generate speaker notes

Copilot in PowerPoint converts bullet points into full talking points, making it easier for speakers to present confidently with notes that only they can see. Ask Copilot to generate a one-minute script based on slide content or create natural-language dialogue and talking points in any tone of voice.

Get visual and design suggestions

PowerPoint’s built-in library of slide designs and visual elements is vast. Rely on Copilot in PowerPoint to sift through this collection—suggesting SmartArt, icons, or stock photos related to your topic and recommending charts that represent your data. Ask Copilot to redesign a slide for better clarity with a prompt like: “Make this slide more visually engaging” or “Add visual separation between these sections.”

Adapt PowerPoint slides to other formats

Visual aids and handouts are a compelling way to keep your audience engaged and retain their attention long after your presentation is finished. Use Copilot in PowerPoint to adapt slides into other Microsoft 365 apps like OneNote or Word for easy printing and distribution. Copilot takes care of the details such as page size and adapting slide design to different formats.

Copilot in PowerPoint offers a smarter, faster way to build impactful presentations. Whether you’re crafting a quick internal deck or a high-stakes client proposal, Copilot streamlines the process—from initial ideas to final polish.
