Dana Bazazeh hosted the WiDS@Microsoft fireside chat with Jeana Jorgensen, Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Learning at Microsoft, and Sarah Bird, Chief Product Officer of Responsible AI at Microsoft.
Jeana Jorgensen is the Corporate Vice President of Worldwide Learning at Microsoft. In this role, Jeana is dedicated to inspiring every person and organization on the planet to learn more (driving 100M learners in 2025), helping Microsoft become the workplace skilling engine for the industry, and igniting the next generation of Microsoft technologists and enthusiasts. Before joining Microsoft, Jeana worked at Google from 2020 to 2023, where she played a pivotal role in driving awareness of Google Cloud, focusing on landing their AI and developer strategy. Prior to that, Jeana held various roles at Microsoft from 2001 to 2020, where she originated and scaled company-wide initiatives such as the ISV Co-Sell Program, Microsoft Go-To-Market Services, and Marketplace Rewards. Jeana holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a BA from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is also the Executive Director of The Pepper Foundation and serves as a board member for Women in Cloud.
Sarah Bird is the Chief Product Officer of Responsible AI at Microsoft, where she leads responsible AI engineering efforts and ensures AI technologies align with ethical standards. She played a key role in developing Microsoft’s Responsible AI Standard and has led cross-company teams behind products like Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot. A pioneer in responsible AI, Bird was a founding researcher in Microsoft’s first responsible AI group and a member of the AETHER committee. Before joining Microsoft, she was part of Facebook’s AI ethics team. She holds a Ph.D. in computer science from UC Berkeley, where she studied under Turing Award winner Dave Patterson. Bird is also the site lead for Microsoft’s New York engineering and research division and is dedicated to fostering tech innovation in the city. Passionate about mentorship, she works to increase diversity in AI and advocates for building safe, fair, and robust AI systems to maximize AI’s positive impact on society.
